Small paintings

I regularly participate on various forums and challenges on Wetcanvas.com.

One of these forums is "Miniatures", which is obviously small paintings. The size-format creates all sorts of interesting challenges, particularly in watercolour. I favour a looser approach, and so it takes a lot of restraint not to get obsessed about the detail, but rather to concentrate on the overall "feel" of the image. "Form", for me, becomes more important than "content", particularly the form of the paint.

The October challenge in this forum had an image of apples in baskets.

My submission which is postcard size:

Apples

Passionate about watercolour

Watercolour (or watercolor) is my passion, and enormous fun.

This is my first blog, so I will share what you can expect as I share my watercolour journey with you.

  • I will share some of the watercolour paintings I have done;
  • I will share some of the current pieces in various stages of development;
  • I will share some of the technical aspects of watercolour that I find interesting.

In addition, I will weave in some of my thoughts and musings on art, what floats-my-boat, and of course my involvement in watercolour as a medium.
